Before you start
- Meet the operator before work starts.
- Keep people and pets out of the work zone.
- Walk the agreed limits after operations stop.
Before cutting begins
The crew reviews access, boundaries, retained vegetation, and known hazards. The operator checks the machine and establishes a work zone. This is the opportunity to resolve an unclear edge or a tree that was not marked.
Keep the property contact available for questions, but do not enter the operating area to get attention.
During the work
The operator follows the agreed limits and reassesses conditions as the ground becomes visible. Hidden wire, debris, or soft areas can change the method or require a pause. Those discoveries should go through the agreed change process.
A productive day includes inspection, repositioning, and maintenance—not only visible cutting. Avoid judging progress solely by time spent with the cutting head engaged.
At the handoff
After operations stop and the area is safe to enter, compare the result with the map and finish specification. Review remaining roots or stumps, debris, access, and any areas left untouched.
Record follow-up tasks and take matching photographs. This article describes a typical workflow, not a timed account of a specific customer project.
What the property owner can do to help
Before the crew arrives, move vehicles and portable belongings out of the agreed access and work area. Show the operator private services, buried items, and features that might be hard to see. Make sure the map and the visible markers agree. A short clarification at the beginning is easier than revisiting a cut area later.
During the job, keep children, pets, and visitors out of the work zone. Use the agreed communication method when questions arise. At the end, take time for the walk-through after operations stop. The most useful feedback is a specific comparison with the scope, not a general request to make the whole property cleaner.
