Opening wooded ground in Spring Valley

This wooded-property project paired mulching with separate debris handling to open the understory around retained trees.

Forestry mulching & grapple cleanup

The goal: address growth and fallen material together

A woodland clearing plan needs to account for more than standing brush. This Spring Valley scope paired forestry mulching for vegetation with grapple work for larger debris. Both were part of the same job, rather than assuming a mulching pass could process every piece of material on the property.

Mulching and grapple work serve different purposes

The crew’s completion record confirms that both mulching and grapple work were performed. The mulcher processed suitable vegetation on site; the grapple scope called for larger material to be organized into accessible piles. Organizing larger material separately was part of the clearing plan.

The result: opened understory

Completion-day photos show mulched ground between standing trees and clearer wooded edges. Karl’s review arrived the following day with a straightforward assessment: the job was completed on time. The photographs capture the opened woodland at the end of that July project.

Include downed timber and debris in the walkthrough. We can distinguish what can be mulched from material needing separate handling.
