Before you start
- Confirm local planning and road-authority requirements.
- Use Kentucky's utility-notification process.
- Assess slopes and wet ground on the site itself.
Start with the parcel, not the regional label
Identify the county, municipality, and exact work area when requesting an estimate. Northern Kentucky includes different jurisdictions and site conditions; a regional article cannot establish one approval process or equipment approach for all of them.
Confirm crew availability and travel before coordinating another contractor’s schedule. Send the approach, parking, and gate information early so the estimate covers access rather than only the visible acreage.
Resolve site-specific approval and utility questions
Use the relevant Kentucky utility-notification process and ask about private services that may need separate identification. Show known septic components, outbuilding feeds, water lines, and drainage features on the work map.
Check the proposed use and disturbance with the appropriate local offices. Where slopes, water, road access, or development are involved, obtain the necessary site-specific direction before clearing. Do not assume rules from an Ohio project carry over.
Match the method to the ground
Have the operator assess the actual slope, footing, access, and nearby structures. A remote-controlled machine does not make every hillside suitable, and a dry-looking surface does not prove that the whole approach supports equipment.
Discuss exclusions and what will trigger a pause or method change. Mark retained trees and screening separately from the clearing limit, including the working space needed to protect them.
Specify the finish and next trade
Distinguish a rough vegetation opening from a driveway, building pad, lawn, or finished trail. Ask the next contractor what must happen to roots and organic material in their work zone.
Keep a written record of scope, disposal, travel, and follow-up responsibility. At completion, inspect the ground and transitions rather than judging the project from an overall photograph alone.
Plan the work for your property
Send the site address, recent photos, a marked clearing area, and the finish you want. We can discuss where clearing fits and what needs a different trade.
